The holidays are approaching quickly and what could be better than eating chocolate when it’s cold and dreary outside?  The Association of Horizon, Inc. will be selling World’s Finest Chocolate Candy Bars.  We are challenging each member of the organization to sell 2 boxes.  If each person sells 2 boxes of candy, that could raise a lot of money and help pay for another person to attend summer camp.

Candy boxes will also be available at Fall Weekend & Shop with a Friend Event.

After six months of planning, Horizon’s 8th Annual Golf Outing and Luau arrived back on August 7.  This year’s outing went off without a hitch, the weather was beautiful and everyone had a great time.  There were 72 golfers and over 160 luau participants.  This is a great number despite the current economic situation.  The event had many new attendees this year and we are looking forward to seeing all of come back next year.

We would like to think the entire committee for their hard work and dedication.  With everyone’s help we’ve raised nearly $15,000!  One of our highest totals over the years.

Have you ever wanted to participate in a beanbag tournament?  Do you or someone you know like to play bags?  We have the perfect tournament for you.

Horizon will be hosting a “Bags and Beer Tournament” on Saturday, September 18.  Event will begin at 2 p.m. at the Bemis Woods North Forest Preserve in Western Springs!

We would like to have a large turnout for this event.  Come visit with your friends watch affordable baseball and that evening is $2 Tuesday, this means drinks are only $2 and that includes beer!!  Of course, you must be 21 years of age to purchase beer.  So please send in your money ASAP, because time is running out to join in for a fabulous evening of baseball.

Sarah Hudetz has been a participant of camp for several years and with her family’s help, they will be hosting their “Horizon Camp Benefit Golf Outing” on Saturday, May 22.  This event will be held at The Tamarack Golf Club located on 24032 Royal Worthington Drive in Naperville, Illinois.
Cost is $100 per person with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.  The price includes lunch, 18 holes of golf & dinner.  Not a golfer?  No problem, dinner only tickets are available for $50 per person.  For reservations please contact Donna Mathewson at dmathewson@system-27.com. Horizon will be hosting its annual Golf Outing & Hawaiian Luau on Saturday, August 7, 2010.  We moved the event back this year and save the date notices have been sent.  Click the following link to print off your own 2010 save the date golf and luau.  Even though we move the dates back, you can still expect the same challenging golf, sensational prizes, excellent food and wonderful live music.  Mark your calendars we hope to see you there.

On Saturday, April 24, Horizon held to separate and successful fundraisers.  A special thank you for all of those involved in planning The Bowl for Horizon and the Pasta Party.  It is not an easy task to plan such events and the organization really appreciates all the help and money raised.  Keep up the good work Horizon members, friends & family.

In two weeks, Horizon will be hosting to separate fundraisers.  A bowling event just north of Chicago and a pasta party in northern Indiana.  We hope you can make one of the events to show your support and help raise money for this year summer camp program.  For more information about either events, click on the link under upcoming events.

It is time for the annual BOWL FOR HORIZON!  Yes, you read it correctly.  Another wonderful evening of bowling with friends and family of Horizon.  Three games of bowling with a twist, dinner and a variety of prizes to be won.  This year’s event will be held Saturday, April 24 at Brunswick Zone in Deerfield Illinois.
